How is a tip scored?
Each tip is a pretend $1,000 bought at the most recent close when you heard it: that day's close, or the last one before it if you heard it during trading hours, on a weekend or on a holiday. It's compared with $1,000 in SPY, an S&P 500 fund, over the same dates. If the tip is ahead of SPY at the latest close, it's a Hit; behind, a Miss; exactly even, a Tie.
A bearish (sell) tip earns when the stock falls. Like a real $1,000, it can't lose more than $1,000.
Why does my tip say pending?
No trading day has closed since you heard it, for example over a weekend or a market holiday. It's scored after the next close.
When do scores update?
Once each trading day, after the US market closes. Each score shows the close it's as of.
What's an early read?
A source needs at least 5 scored tips before Track Record gives it a hit rate. Until then you'll see how many beat the S&P 500 so far, like "2 of 3 beat", so a lucky start doesn't look like a track record.
What does "close the trade after" do?
It ends a tip after a set number of trading days, such as 1 week or 1 month, and keeps the result from that day. Without it, a tip is scored to the latest close.
Why don't I see share prices?
Track Record shows results, like "$1,000 is now $1,086", not the prices behind them. That's part of how our market data is licensed.
Adding tips
How do I add a tip from Safari?
On the article, tap Share, then Track Record. Open Track Record, and the page waits under "Shared with Track Record" on the Tips tab. Track Record shows each call it finds, with its quote, for you to confirm.
I shared from Apple News or Google, and nothing was found
Those apps share only a link, not the story. Open the story in Safari and share it from there.
How does Say a Tip work?
Tap + (Add Tip), then Say a Tip, and say the call you heard, like "Priya said buy Nvidia". Your voice is turned into text on your iPhone, and you review the tip before it's saved. You can also ask Siri to Log a Tip.
Can I add tips from a podcast?
Yes. Share the episode from Apple Podcasts, or paste a podcast feed link. If the publisher provides a transcript, Track Record can find the calls in it. If not, it fills in the show and episode, and you add the call.
Can I add tips I heard a while ago?
Yes. Set the date you heard it. It's labeled Backfill and scored from that date.
AI and privacy
Do I have to use AI?
No. Every way of adding tips still works without it: Apple Intelligence on your iPhone, where available, or typing it in. Turn AI off at any time in Settings, under Use Claude for AI features.
What leaves my iPhone?
To score tips: the ticker, direction, date and random IDs, never your sources' names or notes. With AI turned on: the text you share. The full details are in the privacy policy.
Track Record Pro
What's in Track Record Pro?
Unlimited tips, AI capture from shared pages, podcasts, screenshots and Siri, AI source summaries, check-in reminders and the widget. Without Pro, you can keep up to 5 tips typed in, with full scores.
I subscribed, but Pro isn't on
Tap the gear to open Settings, then tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the Apple Account you subscribed with.
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Track Record. Pro stays on until the end of the period you've paid for, and your tips stay.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Reminders and the widget
Check-in reminders don't arrive
Open Settings on your iPhone, then Notifications, then Track Record, and turn on Allow Notifications. Reminders arrive at 9 AM on each check-in day.
How do I add the widget?
Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Track Record (Tip Scores). On the Lock Screen, touch and hold it, tap Customize, then the space under the time.
Track Record is for tracking and learning. It isn't investment advice. See the terms of use and privacy policy.
